This was probably the worst Mum's birthday I can ever recall. I mean, I had to go for Chinese with her. It's tradition. And since it's Muggle they had to bandage up my face so no one could see the stupid jinx and instead all the Muggles thought I'd either been in some sort of accident ot was getting plastick serjery or something like that on my nose. It was embarrassing and I didn't want to be there even though I wanted Mum to have her birthday tradition.

Then when we were looking at our menus I suddenly forgot how to read and panicked a bit and Mum helped me pick out some food and by the end of the dinner I was recognising letters again but it was still rather frightening and I don't think I'll ever get used to my mind just going on me. I hope they find a memory potion that will keep me stable soon.

I hate this. I wish I had my mind and memories again.

I can't believe this. I really can't.

I just got a note from Professor Vector saying that I can't make up the Arithmancy test I missed yesterday because I skipped class. And this is on top of the Detention I got last night coming back from the Astronomy class I thought I had, but apparently didn't, after curfew. I forgot yesterday was Thursday and thought it was Friday! Can't I even get a little break for that? I really did think Winnie was poking fun when she asked why I hadn't gone to Arithmancy because she hasn't been very nice to me lately!

In the Many-Worlds theory, there is no one past and no one future. If I've been comprehending this book right and Merlin knows, I feel like I can't comprehend much of anything these days, we can only live in the present reality we're choosing for ourselves, but since every choice we've had or will have is possible, it may also be possible to move throughout our different universes.

So maybe in this other universe Marietta was a totally awful person and I have somehow managed to switch over realities, but how? And what set of choices happened in this particular Marietta's reality to make her the way she is? And how do I get back to mine?

What's truly odd is that if the reason I don't know what people are talking about or why I don't remember Owl Express or Cho's love life or much of anything of the past several months is because I did manage to switch over from another universe, why can't I remember what happened over there, either?

Bother. At least this is interesting, although I hope no one ever did this experiment on the poor cat.
